Ralph Lauren: “What I’ve Learned”

Esquire UK - Big Black Book S/S 13

Polo by Ralph Lipschitz

Ralph L., the designer that never had an original idea, a master thief who, because of his good taste and aspirations, knew exactly what styles to approriate and market to the masses. It is unclear how much he actually made on his pony emblazoned version of the considerably older and more esteemed croc-ed Lacoste and laurel-ed Fred Perry tennis shirts but he knows how to wear it- and that is all that matters in the end. Now that weather conditions in the Nothern hemisphere are improving rapidly, this business suit- tennis shirt combination is another little trick that I will copy-paste from the Jewish college drop-out turned tie salesman from the Bronx.
